B’nai Mitzvah Program

A child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah is an exciting time for the whole family. Traditionally, it occurs after a child’s thirteenth birthday, the age at which he/she is recognized in Judaism as a fully responsible member of the community. This is a period of emotional and spiritual growth, and special study and preparation. The Beth-El clergy and staff are here to support you every step of the way.

Goals of the Beth-El B’nai Mitzvah Program

  • To instill a thirst for Jewish knowledge and to inspire students to adopt Judaism (God, Torah and Israel) as their personal way of life.
  • To encourage the practice of the Mitzvot of Torah, Avodah (service), and Gimilut Chasadim (acts of loving-kindness).
  • To prepare students to lead the congregation in prayer and to understand and explain the meaning of prayers.
